How to Adjust the Headlamps on Your Jaguar

If your Jaguar’s headlamps seem misaligned—whether due to a minor bump or general wear—you may need to adjust them. Properly aimed headlights improve visibility and safety, especially at night.

DIY Headlamp Adjustment

On many Jaguar models, you can adjust the headlamps yourself with a few simple steps:

  1. Find a Flat Surface & Wall – Park your Jaguar on level ground about 25 feet from a wall or garage door. Make sure the car is unloaded and at normal ride height.
  2. Mark the Beam Pattern – Turn on your headlights and mark the horizontal and vertical center of each beam on the wall with tape.
  3. Locate the Adjusting Screws – Your Jaguar’s headlamps will have one or two adjustment screws near the housing. These control vertical and horizontal alignment.
  4. Make Small Adjustments – Turn the screws slowly to move the light pattern up, down, left, or right as needed. Align the beams so they are level and slightly downward to avoid blinding oncoming traffic.
  5. Test Drive & Fine-Tune – Take your Jaguar for a short drive to ensure the headlights illuminate the road properly without glaring into other drivers’ eyes.

Important Tips

  • Be gentle with the adjusters to avoid breaking them. If they’re stuck, use penetrating oil and work slowly.
  • If your model has sealed beam headlights, the entire unit may need to be repositioned.
  • If the adjusters are damaged or inaccessible, a mechanic may be the best option.

Properly aimed headlamps are essential for safe driving. With a bit of patience, you can get your Jaguar’s lights adjusted just right!
